Dukes Hang 16 on Hampton, Win in 7 innings
After losing to Rochester 5-1 on Friday night the Dukes bounced back big time and beat Hampton 16-4 in seven innings on Sunday in Hampton. The first seven starters had at least two hits each with Rich Bordas, Javy Guevara and Tyler Jones all collecting three hits apiece. Guevara also knocked in four runs starting with Maus and Bordas in the first inning. Dundas scored one more in the third to go ahead 3-2 on a Tyler Jones triple and a Loos groundout to second. After scoring three in the sixth, the Dukes batted around in the seventh scoring ten runs on eight hits, two walks and two hit batters.
Matt Neuger pitched the first six innings for the Dukes and gave up four runs on six hits striking out eight and walking two for the win. Jon Engeswick pitched a one, two, three seventh. This win brings the Dukes CCVL record to 8-5 with two games left. The Dukes play Randolph on Tuesday and Red Wing on Sunday the 22nd of June.
