Olson homer lifts Miesville over Dukes
JULY 18, 2010 - DUNDAS, Minn. - David Olson went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth and had a run-scoring single earlier in the game as Miesville defeated host Dundas 3-2 in a Classic Cannon Valley League game on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Park.
The victory gave Miesville (25-3, 12-0 CCVL) the outright CCVL title while handing Dundas (29-8, 8-5 CCVL) its first league loss since May 23.
The Dukes had leads of 1-0 and 2-1. Dundas picked up a run in the first on a Carson Jones double and Brandon Rolloff run-scoring single. In the fourth inning, after the Mudhens tied the game on Olson's single, the Dukes' Robin Moore scored on a balk by Miesville starter Erik Olson.
Rolloff and Todd Mathison had two hits each for the Dukes, who lost at home for the first time since a 7-4 decision to St. Louis Park on June 5.
Charlie Ruud took the loss for the Dukes. Ruud went the distance, allowing 10 hits and a walk while striking out five.
Chris Olean got the win for Miesville after posting four scoreless innings of relief. Luke Rassmussen pitched a perfect ninth inning to get the save.
