Red Wing too much for Dukes
MAY 16, 2010 - DUNDAS, Minn. - Red Wing pounded out 20 hits in a 14-11 win over host Dundas in a Classic Cannon Valley League game on Sunday night at Memorial Park.
Red Wing's Kyle Blahnik went 5-for-6 while three other Aces -- Andy Shilling, Zach Laffey and Brent Gadient -- had three hits each in the victory. Gadient drove in four and Shilling homered.
The Dukes battled back from a 7-3 deficit with a five-run fifth inning and held a brief 8-7 lead, but the Aces (5-0, 3-0 CCVL) then scored seven unanswered to all but seal the win.
Dundas rallied for three runs in the eighth to get within three, but went in order in the ninth to get Red Wing to 3-0 in league play.
The Dukes, now 0-2 in CCVL action, were led by Javy Guevara's 4-for-5 game. Brandon Rolloff added three hits and Mike Ludwig two in the loss. Rolloff's two-run triple in the eighth gave the Dukes hope, but Ludwig then lined out to left to end the threat.
Dundas plays at Hastings on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in another CCVL game.
